From the Desk of J. R. Brandt DC, FACO
President, Academy of Chiropractic Orthopedists
Good Morning Doctor,
I’m pleased to announce that we have 5 new orthopedic Diplomates. The Academy Diplomate examination at Texas College of Chiropractic was held on May 3, 2008. The pass rate was 83%. Please watch the website for the next scheduled examination.
We have been working on a redesign of the website. I have seen some of the new proposals and it’s looking good. This has to be done before we can add some new items and functions to the website. The current website will be up until the change is made with current messages and information.
I am hopeful you have been on the website and signed up for the “DCConsult”. Academy membership gives you a discount rate to belong to FCER. The membership rate for Academy members is $99 per year. A benefit with Academy membership is not only the discount for FCER membership, but a discount for “DCConsult” membership. Normally this totals $297 for FCER and “DCConsult”. The benefit for Academy members to join “DCConsult” is only $97 per year! These rates are in effect until August 2008. This is a great opportunity and benefit for you. I have used this service dealing with managed care claims mangers and preparing for courtroom testimony.
There is a summer sale on the Fellow educational pamphlets for patient information about you and your post-graduate education. The sale price is given when your order is received. Many doctors put this pamphlet in their new patient packets; pass them out at meetings and to the allied professions for marketing.
Dr. Jim Demetrious has taken over the Board Secretary position from Dr. Steve Capps. Dr. Capps is working on another advanced Academy project that will be very time consuming.
It’s not too early to begin planning a paper presentation for the ACCO conference May 6-10, 2009 at the Hyatt in San Antonio. The Hyatt is right on the River Walk in downtown San Antonio. This should be for at least a 20-30 minute presentation. Case studies are well received by the attendees. Research projects, treatment protocols and other scientific papers have been presented in the past. Check the website or contact Dr. Jerry Wildenauer, the Executive Director of the Academy for further information.
Remember those this Memorial Day, who have fallen to keep us a free nation.
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work. Thomas A. Edison
