Academy e-letter Volume 2, number 11

From the Desk of J. R. Brandt DC, FACO President, Academy of Chiropractic Orthopedists

Good Morning Doctor,

The Academy Certification examination is progressing extremely well. The examination committee (which is made up of members from the Council of Chiropractic Orthopedists CCO, American College of Chiropractic Orthopedists ACCO) is steadily checking off the psychometric steps for completing of tests 2004 A and B. We have been receiving many inquiries. In addition, there are transcripts coming in and the slots are being filled. If you know of anyone who has completed the required hours to sit for an orthopedic certification examination, please give them our website address www.dcorthoacademy.com to obtain instructions to apply for candidacy to take the certifying exanimation. The cost of this examination is $950.

I would like to update you on the current status of the chiropractic product supplier. CPA (Chiropractic Purchasing Alliance) has informed me that they have had some trouble with the currently proposed company. The company wanted to raise the costs to the Academy members. CPA has terminated the agreement and is working with a company that will have a greater choice of product. This is expected to be in place for us the first quarter of next year. I was given more detailed information about the problems and I think it will be better for Academy members to wait for the new company. CPA was very apologetic about all of this, but felt what was being offered wasn’t the best available and terminated the talks.

The College on Forensic Sciences has placed a link to the Academy on their website and we have placed theirs on our site. They have various classes and interesting programs. Check their website for information about classes and registration. The Academy recognizes these classes for re-credentialing.
Don’t forget to check out Corporate Express office products. Comments I have gotten seem to be in the vain that the prices are very good and the service has also been very good. If you have any questions, please call CPA at 1-800-501-6191. If you have registered with them, you will automatically be enrolled in the chiropractic supplies when it becomes available. If you are not sure that you are registered, call and please join. This is a help for your bottom line and this helps provide financial help for Academy grant and research projects.

In addition to the certification examinations in 2004, there are other member friendly projects that are underway. Your membership is appreciated and the Academy Board is working hard to make your membership a value to you. Look for expanding involvement of member Fellows with these Academy projects.
May you and your families have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
